Worried About Neurodegenerative Diseases? Add A Little Spice To Your Life!

Diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s multiple sclerosis, brain tumors and meningitis can be very serious and scary.

But did you know that adding a bit of spice to your diet can help prevent such diseases?

The number of people with these diseases has been found to vary based on their global location. The lowest numbers found were located in the Asian subcontinent. Doctors have discovered that it may be the many different spices consumed in that area that account for their low numbers.

During a ten-year study, spices such as red and black pepper, cloves, turmeric, coriander, ginger, garlic, cinnamon and even licorice have certain properties that target inflammatory pathways, thereby helping to prevent neurodegenerative diseases.

It’s time to get spicy for your health!

The Secret To Longer Life? Stay Fit!

Exercise has long been known to improve our overall health.

New findings from a study more than a decade in the making show that it can significantly increase longevity as well! The study found that those who were relatively healthy in their 40’s and maintained that fitness level for ten years or more reduced their risk of  “all-cause-death” by roughly 30%!

Unfortunately, not all of us can claim to have been fit in our 40’s.

But don’t fret! The same study found that those who were able to increase their fitness levels over that same 10 year span lowered their risk of cardiovascular disease by 40%, as well as a 44% lower risk of “all-cause-death”.

So get yourself to the gym!  It’s never too late to start.

Keep Your Mind Sharp With Vitamins! And Fats?

Everyone knows that vitamins are good for your overall health. But a recent study has found that diets rich in certain vitamins and healthy fats may actually prevent brain shrinkage associated with aging and keep you mentally sharp!

In particular, they found that vitamins B, C, D and E, along with a good helping of marine fatty acids (otherwise known as omega-3) showed the most impressive increase in cognitive function.

On the flip side of the diet coin, they also found that junk foods with high levels of trans fat can actually reduce your overall mental capacity, as well as your brain volume. So be sure to eat healthy and stay away from that junk food to ensure that you stay sharp for a long time to come!
